Introduction
The
Society has acquired several telescopes kindly donated by members
and friends over the years. Here is a preview of what is available.
Each instrument has a custodian who should be contacted to arrange
a loan. The telescopes are in good working order but if a problem
arises, please contact the custodian immediately. Telescopes should
be returned in May for inspection, and the next loan period is then
June to September (suggested).

Description:
6"
F/6 Orion Optics
(UK) reflector, on equatorial mount. There is no sidereal drive. (
It was removed)
Operation: Slacken the axis clamps slightly
and nudge the OTA towards the object.
Suggested
setup: Put the mounting on flag stones and adjust for polar alignment.
Mark the positron of the legs.
Suitable for the Moon, Planets, Star clusters and brighter fuzzy objects.
Telescope-2
Donated by Mrs Delia Turner (Reading)

drives) [ Celestron Astromaster 130 Reflector]
Operation: Set the tripod on solid ground and polar align. Mark the
position of the tripod legs. There are hand controlled slow motions.
Slacken the axis clamps and gently move the telescope tube. When near
the object tighten the clamp and use the fine control.
The telescope has a rack and pinion focus for 1.25” eyepieces.
Also mounted on the telescope is an LED-finder. Eyepieces included:

Description:
4.5" Reflector on EQ mount (Sidereal
Drive)
Operation: Set the tripod on solid ground and polar align. Mark the
position of the tripod legs. There are hand controlled slow motions.
Slacken the axis clamps and gently move the telescope tube. When near
the object tighten the clamp and use the fine control or use the
the motor in Right Ascention (RA). It runs off D Cells. or there is
a 12V transformer (DC/AC)
The telescope has a rack and pinion focus for 1.25” eyepieces.
Also mounted on the telescope is a finder. Eyepieces are included
Suitable
for the Moon, Planets, Star clusters and brighter fuzzy objects. Imaging
when driven ?
Telescope-5
Purchased by the Society using donations. EQ mounting donated by Steve

Description:
H-alpha Solar Telescope on EQ mount with
Sidereal Drive.
Operation: Set the tripod on solid ground and polar align. Mark the
position of the tripod legs. Start the sidereal drive.
Slacken the axis clamps and gently move the telescope tube to the
SUN. When near the object tighten the clamp and use the fine controls.
Avoid glancing at the Sun directly.Use the appropriate finders. The
sun needs a cloud free sky for best viewing, and a 13 to 10mm eyepiece.
Solar Imaging is possible.
Suitable
for the SUN only !
